Step 2: Token Service
Access tokens are JWTs (stateless, verified without DB call). Refresh tokens are stored in the database (revocable). This gives the best of both worlds — fast API auth with the ability to revoke sessions.

Results
The auth system handles 2,000 signups in the first month with zero auth-related incidents. Google OAuth converts 3x better than email/password for their B2B audience — companies already use Google Workspace. The refresh token rotation detects a token theft attempt in week 3 (automated bot reusing a leaked token) and automatically revokes all sessions for that user. Access token verification adds less than 1ms overhead to API routes (no DB call, just JWT verification). The iron-session encrypted cookies keep server components fast — the session is in the cookie, no Redis roundtrip for page renders.
